Youth Forge: What Young Nigerians Are Saying About the Country They Are Inheriting

On 27 August 2026, the Centre for Inclusive Social Development (CISD) convened Youth Forge: A Civic Talks Special Edition in Abuja under the theme “Unfiltered: The Nigeria Young People Are Inheriting.”

Designed as a listening space, the assembly gave young Nigerians the opportunity to speak about their lived experiences, question existing systems and articulate the changes they want to see. Discussions covered governance, education, employment, livelihoods, national identity and civic participation.

The report documents the voices and perspectives shared during the assembly, alongside recommendations for improving youth participation in policymaking, strengthening accountability, connecting education to employment opportunities and ensuring that government commitments translate into tangible results.

A central message emerges from the discussions: young people want more than opportunities to speak. They want their contributions to inform decisions, receive meaningful institutional responses and lead to measurable action.

Whether you attended the assembly or are discovering Youth Forge for the first time, this report offers an opportunity to engage with the issues raised and the recommendations put forward.
